Summer Solstice Sunday – Flash Fiction Challenge

For the past two weeks the challenge theme on my blog has been Shadows. I have had two fabulous entries to the challenge. If you haven’t had the chance already you might want to go check them out.

Yikici was very crafty and she worked the theme of shadows into her ongoing tale, “Where There’s a Will There’s a Way which she is working on with her writing partner Di Rosa.

Indigo Spider wrote a fabulous and chilling tale inspired by a haunting photo. To have a look just visit the post, Picture Press: Pictures of Nightmares.

Today is father’s day and my dad’s birthday so I am feeling light-hearted today. In the past some of my challenges have taken on a darker tone but because of my mood and the fact we are so close to summer which is my favourite season I decided to go with a summer solstice theme this time. Of course you can make that theme dark if you so choose to take up the challenge as well.

So here is the challenge, anyone can participate, write a flash fiction piece of 500 words or less in any genre you like but somehow work in the theme which is Summer Solstice. Be creative and have fun. The deadline is Saturday, July 2nd. When you have written your story post a link in the comments section below so we know where to go read it. Happy writing!

ooo sounds exciting -if I have time I’ll try and attempt this -but I don’t want to promise just in case something unexpected surprises me!

This is my dad’s birthday as well!
I can’t resist a Flash on Summer Solstice! Count me in, Billie Jo.

    • It was also my great grandmother’s birthday and she was one of my favourite people to ever walk the earth. I shall post about her someday for she used to tell a very good story and lived an amazing life. I was lucky to have her in my life for nearly thirteen years. Must be a great day to be born.

  3. Happy (belated) birthday to your dad!
