March Photo A Day – 1 through 3

Some of my friends have been participating in the March Photo A Day challenge on Facebook. This was created by Fat Mum Slim. I am not sure that I will be able to take a new photo each day but if I can’t I will use one I have taken in the past. I thought it would be fun to join in. Being more of a writer than a photographer, I thought I could use the photos as writing inspiration sometimes too. So I know I missed a couple days but I will make up for them in this post.

Day 1 – Up

I took this photo in the summer of 2009 in Borth Wales. I was sat on the beach, it was an overcast day. The sun started to filter through this hole in the clouds. It appeared as a beam. I love it when the sun does that and couldn’t resist taking a photo of it but I could not get a good photo of it. Every picture I took turned out to be too bright from the sunlight. I was usuing just an ordinary digital camera and I am certainly not a professional photographer. Eventually, I held up my sunglasses and took this photo through one of the lens.

Day 2 – Fruit

Okay so this one is a bit of a cheat because these are candied raspberries and blackberries that are stuck on a gingerbread house with icing and dusted with powdered sugar but I must admit they tasted so nice. This was the first gingerbread house I had ever done with my kids. The delicious flavour mingles nicely with the sweet memories.

Day 3 – My Neighbourhood

This is the most exciting thing in my neighbourhood. It was taken while they were building the dream statue which is just at the top of my road. This photo was taken from my front gate. The Dream statue is the large head of a little girl which appears to be coming out of the ground. She is meant to represent prosperity for the future of the area. There is also a beam of light that is meant to shine out of the top of her head but because there is a motorway behind her they have not allowed it to be turned on stating that it will cause a distraction to cars going by.

I always enjoy seeing where other bloggers are. The statue taking shape is interesting. And how creative to shoot through the lens of your sunglasses! I’ll have to remember that photo tip.
